In a light-hearted yet bizarre moment during Match 27 of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), Ishan Kishan unintentionally gave fans something to chuckle about with a comical fielding error. The incident took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad during Punjab’s innings.

After Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bat, skipper Shreyas Iyer emphasized their intent to post a big total, citing the depth in their batting lineup. SRH captain Pat Cummins, however, remained unfazed by the toss result, confident that his side could chase down any target.

Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh walked out to bat for PBKS, with Mohammad Shami sharing the new ball for SRH. Arya picked up a single on the first delivery, guiding it down to fine leg. What followed next had the crowd in splits.

On the second ball, Prabhsimran drove a delivery straight past Shami, and Ishan Kishan came charging in from mid-on. He managed to cut the ball off brilliantly before it could reach the boundary. But in an unexpected twist, Kishan suddenly lost track of the ball entirely—even though it was right in front of him. The ball had stopped on the sponsor mat, blending into the white lettering, making it nearly invisible at first glance.

Pat Cummins, alert as ever, dashed in to retrieve the ball, averting a boundary. Thankfully for SRH, the confusion didn’t cost them much as PBKS could only manage a single despite the chaos.
