Ishan Kishan made a sensational return to the Duleep Trophy by smashing a century for India C in their second-round match against India B on Thursday. After initially being sidelined due to a groin injury sustained during the Buchi Babu Tournament, Kishan’s inclusion in the playing XI was a surprise move that delighted fans and his team alike.
Displaying his trademark flair, Kishan looked in prime form as he carved out a brilliant century off just 121 balls, including 14 fours and 2 sixes. His aggressive stroke play and precise timing kept the pressure on India B’s bowlers. Teaming up with Baba Indrajith, Kishan forged a commanding 150-run partnership, further solidifying India C’s position in the game.
Ishan Kishan walked to the crease at 97-2 after Rajat Patidar’s solid knock of 40 from 67 balls, which included eight boundaries. His presence quickly turned the tide in favour of India C.

What made Kishan’s innings even more remarkable was the unexpected nature of his return. The BCCI had recently released updated squads for the second-round matches in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Ishan Kishan’s name was notably absent from all four teams—India A, India B, India C, and India D.

However, during the toss, it was revealed that Kishan had been drafted into the India C lineup at the last minute, catching everyone by surprise. Previously, Kishan was listed in the India D squad led by Shreyas Iyer for the first-round fixtures, but his injury had kept him out of action.

The BCCI’s medical team has been closely monitoring his recovery, and it seems that Kishan has made a swift and successful return to competitive cricket. It remains to be seen whether Kishan will take up wicketkeeping duties in the match, as India C already have specialist keeper Abhishek Porel in their ranks. Nonetheless, Kishan’s century has set the stage for what promises to be a thrilling contest.
