“Virat Kohli is the best batsman I have ever seen play on a cricket field,” Ishant told Cricbuzz.

The Indian pace attack is getting older and the team management wants to get the next pool of speedsters ready in the near future, said, captain Virat Kohli. While Jasprit Bumrah can lead the pace pack for a few years, Ishant Sharma, who will be 32 this year and Mohammed Shami who is 29, has already been growing alongside Umesh Yadav who will turn 33 this year.

“These guys are not getting any younger so we need to be very careful and very aware and accept that these are situations that can potentially come up and have guys who can replace them and ready up and running as soon as possible,” captain Virat Kohli shared in his interview in the next few years.

However, Ishant Sharma had a poor rehabilitation which witnessed a recurrence of his ankle tear and the workload of Shami for the past two years can be stressful for him in future as well.

“From the point of view of the larger picture, we do need to recognise who are the next three-four guys that can keep the standard up because you don’t want to feel a void suddenly if a couple of guys miss out,”  Kohli shared that they are investing on new talents for the future.
