In a rare moment of cricketing humour, Ishant Sharma delivered a comical celebration after dismissing Virat Kohli for the first time in IPL history during the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. The camaraderie between Ishant and Kohli dates back to their days in Delhi’s domestic cricket circuit before they ascended to the international stage.

The amusing incident unfolded in the fourth over of the match. Despite conceding 10 runs off the first two balls, Ishant was determined to claim Kohli’s wicket. Bowling a fuller delivery outside off, Kohli attempted a drive without proper foot movement, resulting in an edge straight into the gloves of Avishek Porel behind the stumps.

Following Kohli’s dismissal, Ishant couldn’t contain his excitement as he jubilantly shadowed Kohli on his way back to the pavilion. Ishant even playfully poked Kohli, who maintained a composed demeanour with a mischievous smile. Earlier in the game, Kohli had attempted to disrupt Ishant’s focus with animated antics on the field, including a brief dance performance to entertain the crowd.

In the backdrop of this light-hearted moment, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl against RCB. Axar Patel led Delhi Capitals in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who faced a one-match suspension for a third slow over-rate offence in the season.
