Team India are all set to play against England in a five-match Test series. Ahead of this, Gautam Gambhir said that the team management has not yet decided which matches Jasprit Bumrah will play in as well. However, it is well known that the BCCI and its Bengaluru-based Centre of Excellence want to manage the speedster’s workload, which means the veteran pacer is unlikely to be available for all five Test matches as well.

“It is always difficult to replace someone like Brumrah, but we have got enough quality. I have said it before during the Champions Trophy as well. It will give someone the opportunity to put his hand up and we have got enough talent. I know that he is quality, but we have got enough quality apart from him as well in the squad,” he said in the pre series media interaction.

“We have not taken the call on which games he is going to play. Obviously, we are going to have a discussion with him and depending on the series as well. A lot will depend on the results of the series as well where the series is heading. And that is something which I am sure he is very well aware of as well, and that is important,” he again shared.

However, the former India batter also said that the players are in good space ahead of the big tour as well.

“You are always in a good space when you go on such a big tour, such an exciting tour. It is a five-Test series in England. Everyone is excited. Everyone got there and expressed themselves too well. It is another opportunity to do something special for the country,” he stated.

So you are always in a good space and more importantly, when you spoke about it, it is a clean state. It really doesn’t matter, to be honest, whether it is a clean state or not a clean state. For me, the most exciting thing is that we have got really quality players in the squad who are really willing to go out there and express themselves and do something special,” Gautam Gambhir concluded.
