Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has slammed at the Indian media during the coverage of the India and Pakistan match on Sunday, October 24 in the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He didn’t like it as he believes the media showed India’s superiority over Pakistan when it comes to international cricket. Notably, Pakistan registered a thumping 10-wicket win over India in the campaign opener.

However, Shoaib Akhtar opined that Pakistan and India are more or less equal and both the teams can beat each other on their respective days as well. He also expressed his anger for the few former cricketers for using “foul language” against players of their own team also. He shared his opinions on his official YouTube channel as well.

“Why does the Indian media portray that their team cannot lose a match? This is cricket. Pakistan comprehensively beat India and the same can happen to Pakistan. That’s the beauty of the game,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

“I understand why media do it, it is their business. I will never understand how ex-cricketers who have played cricket at the highest level use such foul language against their own cricket team after they suffer a defeat. It is extremely disappointing,” he further stated.

Meanwhile, the 10-wicket victory on Sunday was Pakistan’s first against India in the ICC tournament regardless of the format as well. Before that, they had a record of 0-12 defeats. And, Shoaib Akhtar said that the win over India was necessary to boost the current situation in Pakistan’s international cricket as well. Notably, Pakistan has recently faced a lot of criticism as New Zealand and England have cancelled their tours there.

“This win against India was absolutely crucial for Pakistan, not because India is our enemy but because Pakistan has suffered a lot in recent past. From 2009, Pakistan cricket suffered, and then the New Zealand episode happened. This win is important because watching the likes of Babar and Shaheen; our children will want to emulate them which is an ultimate victory for us,” Shoaib Akhtar concluded.
