Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul has once again shown his class and put up another great show against Royal Challengers Bangalore with a blistering 91* off 57 on April 30 in the ongoing Indian Premier League. His knock helped his side post 179/5 against the Virat Kohli-led side in their allotted 20 overs.

However, former England bowler Graeme Swann has said that Rahul could have scored a hundred if he would get support from the middle orders. Notably, their middle-order failed miserably once again.
“It was a captain’s knock. Because he had to weather the storm when those four wickets fell between overs 11 and 15. That was a nightmare for PBKS because they had started so well,” Swann said to Star Sports. “When those wickets fell, he had to consolidate in the middle and that cost him his century in the end.”

However, Swann also felt that KL Rahul should be praised for his captaincy too as he kept his cool throughout the game despite wickets fell from another end. “He picked up the pace in the end. He is one of the guys who you root for. I am not a PBKS fan, I was rooting for him to get that century in the end. But he didn’t get there. But he was brilliant,” Swann praised KL Rahul.

However, after the convincing win, KL Rahul said: “There is nothing in particular against RCB, but all matches against them have been must win games for us because of when they come in the tournament. It was important for me to lead from the front and that’s what I try to do every game. When I have the opportunity to put pressure on bowlers and set targets, I try to do it to the best of my ability. It came off well today.”
Currently, Punjab Kings are placed at number five on the points table. They will next take on Delhi Capitals on Sunday, May 2.
