Team India’s talented opening batter Shubman Gill has said that it was his dream to play an international match at the PCA Stadium in Mohali after India beat Australia by 5 wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series as well. Gill scored a brilliant half-century in the game. And, while speaking to Jio Cinema after the match, Gill said that he had been coming to the PCA Stadium since he was seven years old and it was a dream for him to play an international match in Mohali as well. Gill scored 74 runs off 63 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes as well.

“I was 7 years old when we came to Mohali for the first time. Since I had seen so many matches here as a spectator, it was a dream for me to play an international match in Mohali. I’d played a couple of IPL matches but to play an international match with my family watching was special,” said Gill.

However, he further added that Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan have grabbed their opportunities for Team India. Gaikwad scored 71 runs off 77 balls while opening with Gill and stitching a crucial 142-run stand for the opening wicket as well. Gill also said that his strength is knowing when to attack and defend, claiming that he will look to play according to the situation in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup which India will host in October and November.

“Both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan have grabbed their opportunities. They are all very eager to perform and are showing it when they get a chance,” Shubman Gill concluded. “I feel my strength is to know when to attack and when to defend. You can expect me to play according to the situation at the World Cup. I will try to adapt to the opponents and conditions and give myself the best possible chance to do well.”
