RCB are yet to win at home this season, as they have five wins in five away games so far as well. However, captain Rajat Patidar is hopeful of a good show at home.

“Absolutely, you are right, the shot selection matters,” Patidar said, when asked about RCB’s approach at home. “Because this time the wickets are two-paced wickets and the bounce is varying, so I think the bowlers are getting a lot of help, the way their ball is dipping, the way they are getting the bounce, so I think the more we focus on hitting [behind] square of the wicket, the better it will be.”

Meanwhile, Tim David is one of RCB’s positives at home, striking at 185.93 with scores of 32, 37* and 50* as well.

“We’re a very good team,” he told the broadcaster during RCB’s game against PBKS as well. “But at home, we’ve had three different surfaces in three matches. We’ve batted first every time, maybe tried to over-attack on pitches that haven’t been true. People think of Bengaluru as a flat pitch–it hasn’t been this season.”

Winning the toss might help against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, but as the captain said, “Toss is not in your control. What is, is how you play the situation.”

He also shared his views on the Impact Player as well.

“Of course we have discussed how we are using the impact player. The impact player against Punjab Kings at home was an unexpected call because we have lost 3-4 early wickets, and at that time we needed a batter in the middle. That’s why Manoj Bhandage was there, and I think that was a right decision. And we needed a good total at that time to be able to defend it.”

He opened up on captaining the RCB side also.

“I am enjoying it a lot because for me, it is a great learning process as a leader. We have a great group of leaders in the team and very experienced players. I think about the inputs they give and I think it is helping a lot,” Rajat Patidar concluded.
