Not long ago, the official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Star Sports released an 85-member commentary team for the fifteenth edition of the tournament. For the first time in history, the ongoing season is being broadcast live in nine different languages. Meanwhile, the commentary panel has seen some surprising names. Earlier, Mr IPL, Suresh Raina went unsold at the mega auction in Bengaluru.

As a result, he signed up for the IPL 2022 season as a Hindi commentator. Apart from Raina, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has also been a part of the Hindi commentary panel. Surprisingly, there was another name that is part of both Hindi and English commentary. It is none other than former Mumbai Indians fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni.

Nobody really predicted that Dhawal Kulkarni would be doing commentary for the ongoing edition of the IPL. The 33-year-old has always been an unsung performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. He has featured in 92 matches in the IPL wherein he has taken as many as 86 wickets to his name.

Dhawal Kulkarni registered his best bowling figures of 4/14 in his IPL career. But little did everyone know that he would quickly jump to the comments section this time around.

Earlier, Dhawal Kulkarni himself had better ambitions. In 2021, he said that he wants to be the highest wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians. His statement was also well-received by the fans. However, life took a sudden turn for the pacer as he went unsold in IPL 2021 and 2022 auctions. He signed up at this mega auction for a base price of INR 75 lakh but he went unsold.
