Former Indian Cricketer Jacob Martin Hospitalised After Meeting Several Accidents

Former Indian cricketer Jacob Martin has been hospitalised after meeting with several accidents. Currently, he is undergoing treatment.

Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has recently revealed this news on his official Twitter account. He also shared the best wishes for the former Baroda cricketer and coach.

Yusuf Pathan posted the recent hospitalised picture of Martin and wrote on that, “Former India cricketer and ex-Baroda coach Jacob Martin met with an accident and is in the hospital. Wish you a speedy recovery Jacob bhai and praying for your wellbeing. #getwellsoon.”

The right-handed batsman Jacob Martin made his international cricket debut in 1999 during an ODI match against West Indies (at Toronto on 11 September 1999) while his final ODI was on 17 October 2001against Kenya at Port Elizabeth.

In his international career, Martin played only 10 ODIs where he scored 158 runs with an average of 22.57. His best ODI knock was 39 runs against Pakistan at Perth on 28 January 2000.

Martin started his domestic career from his home city Baroda in 1991. Apart from 2002/03 season, Martin played for Baroda till the end of his professional career in 2009. In the 2002/03 season, he played for Railways while he also served for Assam for the very short time between 2008 and 2009.

In domestic cricket, Martin was a specialist batsman and part-time spinner. In his debutant first-class game, which was against Gujarat in 1991/92 Ranji trophy, Martin had an innings bowling figure of 5/51 and also played a half-century knock.

He played 138 first-class games, 101 List A matches and two T20s where he scored 9,192 runs (average 46.65), 2,948 runs (average 39.30) and 14 runs (average 7.00) respectively. Martin also took 19 wickets (10 in first-class cricket and 9 in List A matches) in his career.

Under his captaincy, Baroda won the 2000/01 Ranji Trophy and finished as the runners-up in 2001/02 Ranji Trophy.
