Exactly six years ago, despite losing the match, Ravindra Jadeja won his third Player of the Match record in ODIs after his all-round performance. Due to injuries to some players, Jadeja was included in the playing XI for this match. He had landed in England a day before.

During India’s tour of England in 2011, India had lost the test series 0-4. The first ODI was abolished due to rain and England won the the second one by 7 wickets. Coming in to bat at 58-5 in the 19th over, Jadeja scored a brave 78 (89) with the help of 10 fours. He stitched a 112-run partnership with MS Dhoni.

India ended up scoring 234-7 in 50 overs. In the second innings, Jadeja registered figures of 9-0-42-2. However, his heroics in the match could not prevent an English victory. England won the match by 3 wickets.
