The veteran Indian opener, Rohit Sharma played a majestic knock of 83 (off 145 balls) in the ongoing Test against England at Lord’s. His brilliant knock finally came to an end after a phenomenal delivery from one of the best fast bowlers, James Anderson as England finally broke the Indian opening partnership. It all happened on the fourth ball of the 44th over when James Anderson, after bowling a series of outswingers, got one to jag back into Rohit Sharma.
It was one of those scrambled seam deliveries by James Anderson where the Indian opener just doesn’t know which way the ball will move. The ball came back sharply to crash at the top of Rohit’s off stump.

Rohit Sharma’s dismissal brought an end to what was a brilliant opening partnership that saw him and KL Rahul became the first Indian opening pair to surpass the 100-run mark in SENA countries since Centurion 2010. Once again, Rohit looked extremely disciplined during the entirety of his stay at the crease.
The veteran Indian opener was leaving the balls outside the off-stump consistently while at the same time, he had no intention of leaving the few bad deliveries bowlers the English bowlers. Sharma scored his second 50 in SENA countries as an opener and he was looking good to score his maiden Test hundred in overseas conditions.

Nevertheless, Rohit’s knock and his partnership for the first wicket with KL Rahul of 126 runs has provided India a brilliant platform and they will hope to build a match-winning first innings score to put England under real pressure.

Here is how the netizens reacted to the dismissal:
Rohit Sharma looked all set for his much-debated SENA ton.. Played one of his finest & composed test knock but when it all started to look all good, he fell for his much trusted lazy elegance.. #ENGvIND

Was waiting for a Daddy hundred from Rohit.. 😌😌
Kl Rahul already playing in pujara mode + pujara joining him 😂😂
A wicket less session from here meant death of England bowlers#ENGvsIND#INDvENG— The brisky one (@blacksquaad88) August 12, 2021

Rohit Sharma 50 se pehle out na ho jaye isliye match Uske 50 ke baad dekhna start kiya. 100 se pehle out ho gaya!!!! 🙃☹️— Sujit 🇮🇳 (@Arey_Singh_saab) August 12, 2021
Well Deserved 💯for Rohit Sharma but that doesn't define his batting. He has proved that he can play overseas has Opener. Survived Morning Session with new ball at Lords is a Special moment. Something way equivalent to a 💯. Wish he can get one this series. #INDvENG #ENGvIND

You don't feel bad when you see Rohit sharma get out – why?
There's always a 2nd inning or a next match. We believe in @ImRo45 #ENGvsIND time to occasional score check mode on cricbuzz till Kohli comes on crease 🙂.— adars𝕩h_baab (@add_rushh) August 12, 2021
This is the highest score for Rohit Sharma in Tests outside India. #ENGvsIND #ENGvIND #RohitSharma

If I am feeling so disappointed, I can just imagine what @ImRo45 must be feeling. It was such a superb effort and #rohit looked all set for a well deserved ton. #RohitSharma pic.twitter.com/KFcPSm8suJ
