Australia premier T20 showcase event Big Bash League (BBL) had decided to introduce 3 new rules — Power Surge, X-factor Player and Bash Boost for its 10th edition on Monday. The rules are exciting and it naturally garnered a lot of hype from fans and players. It has created a lot of buzz in the cricketing fraternity as it allows the teams to exchange a player from the initial playing XI with the 12th or 13th man on the team sheet.

New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham, who is known for his quirky tweets, took a dig at the ‘X-factor’ rule, saying, “How much “X-factor” could a player possibly have if he’s not good enough to make your starting 11?

In the upcoming BBL edition, every winning team will also be getting four points- instead of the previous two – with three points available for the outright victory and the extra point being given to the team who is ahead on the comparison at the 10-over mark of the chase. If the team scores are level at 10 overs, the point will split – 0.5 to each team.

The ‘Power Surge’ will feature changes in the powerplay rule. Powerplay at the start of the innings has been reduced to four overs. The batting side will be having the power of taking the remaining two overs at any given time from the 11th over of the innings onwards.

Jimmy Neesham was part of Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020 but failed to impress much and managed to score only 19 runs and take 2 wickets in the five matches he featured.
