James Pattinson all set to represent Nottinghamshire in County

As per the recent news, veteran pace bowler James Pattinson is all set to sign a three-year contract with the England county side, where he will represent Nottinghamshire. However, he has announced his retirement from international cricket recently after having struggled with injuries in his career which saw him out of the national cricket team as well.

However, the experienced pacer took 100 wickets in 40 matches for the national team. And, his last Test was against New Zealand in January 2020. On the other hand, he has once again been out of the squad with yet another injury just a couple of days before the start of the 2021 Sheffield Shield.

“Leading into pre-season, I really wanted to give the Ashes a crack. But in the end, I haven’t had the preparation I would have liked heading into the coming season. If I was to be part of the Ashes I would need to do myself and my teammates’ justice. I didn’t want to be in a position of battling with my body when you need to be 100 per cent fit and ready to go at any time. That would not be fair to myself or the team”, James Pattinson told in his briefing.

Meanwhile, James Pattinson is likely to make England debut from January 2023 as well. While the fast bowler could have played in the Ashes one last time, as per sources, he has been approached by Nottinghamshire to seal a three-year deal as well.

Meanwhile, if James Pattinson signs the contract, he would be eligible to play for England by as early as January 2023. However, he will have to satisfy at least a three-year qualification criteria under the ICC laws as well. Along with this, an additional cool-off period will also be there by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) which will ensure he could be eligible for a local passport too.
