James Pattinson Gets Suspended For Injuring A Player

Former Australia fast bowler, James Pattinson has been suspended by Cricket Australia following an “unusual” outburst during a Sheffield Shield clash against New South Wales at the MCG. He has been found guilty of a Level 2 offense under the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct. James Pattinson was charged and found guilty under Article 2.7 of the Code for throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during a match.

James Pattinson was fined 100% of his match fee for the Marsh Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and New South Wales held on November 5-8, 2021. Pattinson has received one suspension point and will be ineligible for selection during the match between Victoria and New South Wales Marsh One-Day Cup match on November 12.

Pattinson has the right to appeal the decision. Talking about the same, Victorian captain Peter Handscomb said, “He’s a fiery boy, old Patto. We had a little quiet chat, the umpires and myself, just to see what they were thinking, but we’ll move on.”

Pattinson looked ferocious in the latest Sheffield Shield match when he smashed a wayward throw that left New South Wales opener, Daniel Hughes, in considerable pain. Chasing an unlikely target of 422 at the MCG, the New South Wales Blues were looking to avoid a heavy defeat on day four of its Sheffield Shield clash against Victoria.

Hughes managed to frustrate the Victorian bowlers with a defiant knock of 89 not out, and Pattinson eventually lost his composure late in the afternoon session. In the final over before tea, Daniel Hughes pushed a full delivery back at James Pattinson, who collected the ball and threw it towards the stumps at the striker’s end. But the inaccurate throw landed on the batter’s foot, and Pattinson immediately threw up his hand came up with a sheepish apology.

Daniel Hughes was livid with the Victorian quick – the 32-year-old stared down the bowler as he limped off the pitch before throwing his helmet onto the pitch. There was a three-minute delay as team medics rushed onto the ground before play continued. Pattinson’s following delivery was a bouncer that Hughes ducked with ease.
