The young Australian left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has decided to keep his red-ball cricket career on hold in order to enhance his chances of playing for Australia consistently in limited-overs with ICC World Cup 2019 is the ultimate goal. Meanwhile, he will also be targeting to remain injury-free forms the most vital part of his ambition which is the reason he decided to not take part in Sheffield Shield ahead of the season.
Currently, Jason is a part of Australia’s pace attack that is facing India in a three-match T20I series. As per the quotes in Canberra Times, he said, “It’s a lot of experience [for me now], coming up against one of the best sides in the world and understanding a bit more about my game, and how I need continue to get better to stay at this level and succeed.”

Naturally, Behrendorff wants to make himself a strong candidate for the World Cup next year through performing in the limited-overs format. Avoiding the long format also gives him the chance to keep himself fit. He said that in the current scenario his body is responding more to the shorter formats like T20 and one-day cricket. He revealed that he has decided to put Test cricket and four-day cricket for the Shield stuff on hold until after the Big Bash.
The pacer further explained, “A massive goal [playing World Cup]. I think anyone playing for Australia at the moment has that goal in mind, so that’s in the back of my head and really working towards that.”
The Australian team is currently involved in the three-match T20I series against India and they are already having an unassailable 1-0 lead after winning the first game in Brisbane and the following game was washed-out in Melbourne. The final game will be played in Sydney on Sunday.
