Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are leading the points table in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they have won four out of five matches and have 8 points to their name. They registered a thrashing win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owing to a brilliant all-rounder performance of Ravindra Jadeja.

However, the team has started on a difficult note when their Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood opted out of the IPL 2021 in India citing -bio bubble fatigue, and Jason Behrendorff came in as a replacement.

CSK had decided to sign up another Australian pacer as a replacement for Hazlewood and also got a left-arm seamer to bring variety into their right-handed fast bowling department. Behrendorff previously played in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians in the 2019 edition, when played five matches for MI and picked 5 wickets.

Jason Behrendorff was actually picked by the MI team in IPL 2018 auction but was ruled out after suffering a back injury before the tournament started. Behrendorff had arrived in India on April 19 and he had to undergo a mandatory 7-day quarantine process in the team hotel. He recently posted a photo of himself outside the room, signaling that his quarantine was over and he was to being training shortly.

This will be a huge boost to the CSK squad, who despite having a good bowling department has some trouble in their fast bowling department with Shardul Thakur proving to be highly expensive. Behrendorff also has the ability to bring variations in his bowling and with CSK playing the rest of their matches in Delhi, might come in handy.

Chennai Super Kings will now be locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 28 in Delhi.
