The English opener, Jason Roy has played only 8 IPL games, but he still picked the Indian Premier League as his favorite T20 tournament across the world. He has also played in PSL for Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators and hin BBL for Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunders but IPL remains his favorite.
In his 8-match IPL career, Jason Roy has amassed just 179 runs at an average of over 29 and strike-rate of 133.58. During a recent interview with Crictracker, Roy said, “I’ve been to Pakistan only once for PSL. I’ve been to India 3-4 times, BBL is completely different. I think as far as cricket experience goes, I am gonna go with IPL.”

During the course of the interview, the South African born England opener also talked about his team’s match against India in the 2019 World Cup. England couldn’t afford to lose the game as they had earlier lost the league matches against Pakistan, Australia, and Sri Lanka. Luckily, England came out all guns blazing against India and won the match by 31 runs. Roy had played a dominating knock of 66 to put up a solid opening wicket stand with Jonny Bairstow.
Recalling the same, Jason Roy recalled that the team took a sigh of relief after their win against India and felt relaxed. Later, England went on to claim their maiden World Cup trophy as well.
Talking about the same, Roy said, “That brought life back into the team a little bit. We had our full team back, we won that game and everyone got to relax a little bit, we started playing the way we normally play. That was a weird moment as everyone had to come together, attended team meetings where we discussed our fears. That’s when we played our best cricket.”

When the 29-year-old was asked to choose his favorite opener between Rohit Sharma and David Warner and he decided to pick the Indian deputy skipper as he remembered England’s hardcore cricketing rivalry against arch-rivals Australia.
