At the end of day 3 in the ongoing first Test of the series at Adelaide Oval (Adelaide), Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah feels that they are slightly ahead over the hosts Australia.
After getting bowled out on 250 runs in their first innings, the Indian bowlers bundled out the hosts for 235 runs. Stating their second innings with 15 runs lead, India managed to score 151/3 at the end of day 3. At the end of the third day of the Test match, India is leading by 166 runs.
Talking about their position in the game, Bumrah spoke out at the end of the day, “I think it is slightly in our favour because the late wicket (Kohli) was a good thing for them. But we have a good lead. First session tomorrow will be a very important. If we capitalize on that, that will leave us in a very good place in this match.”

The Indian bowlers were much disciplined during Australia’s first innings in this Test match. Speaking on their bowling performance, Bumrah spoke that they tried to focus to not concede the easy runs and that created the additional pressure from both ends.
Bumrah told, “We were trying to figure out the lengths that are useful over here. In South Africa and England, there was a lot of lateral movement. Here the wickets are slightly flatter because you get bounce, but you have to be consistent.
“That’s the thing we have read over the years. We were trying to focus on that, that if we don’t give runs, we are creating pressure from both ends and then we could get wickets.”

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played an important role in the first innings as he had a bowling figure of 34-9-57-3 (economy rate 1.67). Meanwhile, the Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who has a good record at this venue, has bowled well and put enough trouble to the Indian batsmen, especially in their second innings.
Observing this fact, Bumrah feels that Ashwin’s role is going to be more crucial in the upcoming fourth innings of this Test.
Bumrah added, “Ashwin will obviously play a more crucial now role because with the rough, we saw Nathan Lyon using the rough to his advantage. He is an experienced bowler and knows what he has to do. So he will probably work on it and he will play a crucial role for sure.”

The first-innings centurion Cheteshwar Pujara and the skipper Virat Kohli build up the second innings with a valuable 71-run partnership for the third wicket. Just before the end of the third day’s play, Kohli was dismissed by Lyon on 34 runs off 104 balls (3 fours).
Coming to bat in the second innings, Kohli was booed by the few spectators. However, Bumrah doesn’t feel to give importance to these things.

The Indian pacer said, “I don’t think these things are important to us because for us, what happens in that circle is important. Everything else, we can’t control. If they want to, they can do whatever they want. As long as we are doing well, we are happy.”
