Veteran England batter Jos Buttler feels that India speedster Jasprit Bumrah is the biggest superstar in Indian cricket. Speaking with Stuart Broad on a podcast, Buttler said that Bumrah was the biggest threat to the oppoent teams wherever he played and commanded respect for the same as well.

However, India will play England in a 5-match Test series away from home between June and August. Bumrah, who returns to the red-ball cricket after recovering from a back injury, is likely to play three games under the leadership of Shubman Gill.
Speaking with Stuart Broad on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, Jos Buttler said, “I don’t think there’s a bigger star in that touring squad than Jasprit Bumrah. But facing him, he creates awkward angles, the run-up is unique, the action is unique. I think I have seen the side-ons (bowlers), but he delivers the ball from about a foot or even a bit more closer to the batsman than the average bowler, so the ball feels quicker even than the pace he is actually bowling at,” he added.

Buttler also said that Jasprit Bumrah’s action could make one feel like a sitting target.

“For me as a right-hander, it always felt like it was coming in, but he could beat me on the outside, and you sort of find yourself in a horrible position, squared up and a bit of a sitting target,” again said the former England white-ball captain. “He is a superstar bowler, and that’s what you expect in international cricket. You are going to come up against great players and certainly someone England will need to play well to have good success,” he said.

However, Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar has also confirmed Bumrah’s availability before India were flying out for England, stating that India will manage his workload so that injuries do not keep marring his career as well.
“He is going to be certainly one to watch and certainly someone that England won’t want to play five Tests, because if he does, he’s going to pick up a shedload of wickets, isn’t he?” Broad concluded.
The first Test match between India and England will start on June 20 in Leeds.
