Former India player turned veteran commentator Aakash Chopra has applauded Jasprit Bumrah for bowling a potent spell on Day 1 of the first Test between India and Australia in Perth. He named the Indian captain the ‘Rolls-Royce of fast bowling’ as well. Team India were bowled out for 150 in their first innings after opting to bat first on Friday, November 22 as well. However, Bumrah then registered figures of 4/17 in 10 overs as India reduced the Aussies to 67/7 in their first essay at Stumps on Day 1.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel ‘Aakash Chopra’, he said, “The way Jasprit Bumrah brought India back into the game was worth watching because when India were all out for 150, it seemed like it was over and out. However, it was not over and out. Jassi jaisa koi nahin. He is 24-carat pure gold. Jasprit Bumrah is the Rolls-Royce of fast bowling. He bowls at a different level. Firstly his wrist is so good, then he is quick, both in the air and after pitching, and then the line and length he bowls, they are absolutely immaculate.”

In the same video, Aakash Chopra also added that Jasprit Bumrah was primarily responsible for Team India’s comeback in the game after they were bowled out cheaply after opting to bat first as well.
“Credit to captain Jasprit Bumrah for India’s turnaround. Let’s be honest, where were we? When you saw the pitch, you felt you could have probably bowled first, but captain Bumrah said they would bat first because they had played here previously. To be fair, that was the formula to be successful here,” he said.
“However, the team was bundled out for 150. Then the one and only way to get back into the match was to push the opposing team onto the back foot by taking early wickets and Bumrah did that job,” Chopra added. “He has taken four wickets as of now and might finish with five or six. He was on a hat-trick. A catch was also dropped off his bowling but if you give 17 runs in 10 overs and pick up four wickets, he is leading from the front, leading by example,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
