Australia registered a narrow win against New Zealand in the second Test match at Christchurch as well. A tremendous effort from Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey and Pat Cummins helped Australia post a total of 279 runs, despite being 80/5 at one point in time. And, former Australia captain Tim Paine is not happy with the performance despite a 2-0 series sweep against New Zealand as well. Paine criticised the top-order batters and also said that they had been constantly failing to do well since the West Indies Test series.

“I’m disappointed. We’re a better team than them (New Zealand) and it was the same against the West Indies, there seems to be a bit of a pattern. Not scoring enough runsâ€æ you can’t always believe what they’re telling you but the leadership and coaching and captain and selectors say, ‘we have no concerns with our batters’. Well, I do now,” Tim Paine said on SEN Tassie Breakfast.

Paine also said that the Australians were concerned about the top order of Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, who have not been able to perform with the bat. Tim Paine also slammed the Pat Cummins-led side and said that this team would not be able to face the Indian fast bowling including Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

“There are more questions coming out of the last three or four Tests than answers, and we need to find some answers pretty quickly. We might not beat New Zealand, we’ve lost a Test to West Indies, we wouldn’t beat England if they were playing well with a full-strength sideâ€æ India are certainly going to trouble us with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, so there are some concerns,” Tim Paine concluded.
