Jasprit Bumrah is set to return in familiar colours as he gears up to lead the pace attack for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. The five-time champions begin their campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29, before travelling to face the Delhi Capitals on April 4.

As per recent updates, Jasprit Bumrah has been undergoing workload management at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The focus has largely been on strength, conditioning, and gradually building his bowling rhythm. He is expected to continue his preparations there before linking up with the MI squad just ahead of the season opener.

For the Mumbai Indians, Bumrah’s return is more than just a boost—it’s a statement. The 32-year-old has been the backbone of their bowling unit since his debut in 2013, evolving into one of the most dependable death bowlers in world cricket. His recent form only strengthens that reputation, having finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with 14 wickets.

Heading into IPL 2026, Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead a formidable pace attack that includes names like Trent Boult, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar, along with all-around support from Hardik Pandya. The combination offers both experience and variety, but it is Bumrah’s precision and composure in crunch moments that will remain central to MI’s plans.

Beyond the team’s ambitions, this season also marks a significant personal milestone. Jasprit Bumrah is closing in on becoming Mumbai Indians’ all-time leading wicket-taker in T20s—a record currently held by Lasith Malinga. The Sri Lankan legend picked up 195 wickets for MI, while Bumrah is not far behind, making this a realistic target in the upcoming season.

If Jasprit Bumrah manages to pick up 10 more wickets, he will surpass Malinga’s tally and etch his name at the top of MI’s bowling charts. More impressively, a 14-wicket season would see him become the first Indian bowler to claim 200 wickets for a single franchise in T20 cricket—a landmark achievement that reflects both longevity and consistency.

As IPL 2026 kicks off, all eyes will be on Bumrah—not just for what he delivers with the ball, but for the records he could rewrite along the way.
