Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has provided a major update on his return to the national team in an emotional social media post. Bumrah had been recovering from a back injury and underwent surgery, keeping him out of action since September 2022. During his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Bumrah has been making rapid progress, bowling seven to eight overs to regain his match fitness.

Looking back at Bumrah’s injury timeline, he had to withdraw from the Asia Cup in 2022 due to ongoing rehab at the NCA. After missing two months of action, he returned to play the last two T20Is against Australia but was then ruled out of the South Africa series due to a back injury.

Subsequently, he also missed the T20 World Cup 2022, the ODIs against Sri Lanka, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the IPL, and the WTC final. Following his surgery in New Zealand, Bumrah started his recovery at the NCA and is now on track to make his comeback in the coming months.

With the 2023 ODI World Cup scheduled for October in India, Bumrah will be aiming to return to the team for this crucial tournament. India’s first match in the tournament is against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
