World No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah showcased his class once again in the recently concluded two-match Test series against the West Indies. Playing both games, Bumrah delivered with consistency and control — picking up three wickets in the first innings of the series opener at his home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the pace ace struck again, claiming four wickets across both innings (1 in the first, 3 in the second) to help India seal a convincing series win under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
Bumrah’s partner in the pace attack, Mohammed Siraj, was equally impressive, finishing as India’s leading wicket-taker with 10 dismissals — seven in Ahmedabad and three in Delhi. The duo’s rhythm, energy, and understanding have become a key component of India’s red-ball success, especially at home.

A day after the series ended, the BCCI released a highlight video capturing the team’s best moments. One light-hearted segment from the clip went viral — Bumrah teasing Siraj during a pre-match warm-up. Around the 51st second, Bumrah can be heard jokingly saying, “Mohammed Siraj official, baki sab…”, a playful reference to one of Siraj’s earlier Instagram videos where he had clarified his official account to fans.

Siraj, who missed out on selection for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, is set to make his return in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The right-arm pacer, who last played an ODI over a year ago, will lead India’s pace attack in Bumrah’s absence. Having played 44 ODIs and taken 71 wickets so far, Siraj’s resurgence marks another exciting chapter in India’s bowling evolution.

Notably, Siraj was crowned the world’s No. 1 ODI bowler in September 2023 after his sensational six-wicket haul in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bumrah — rested for the ODIs — will next feature in the five-match T20I series against Australia, scheduled to begin after Diwali, marking his return to white-ball action.
