Jasprit Bumrah Tells His Rehab Journey That Defined His Comeback

Jasprit Bumrah, the renowned Indian fast bowler, is poised to make his return to the cricket field after surmounting a series of physical challenges. Bumrah’s absence was palpably felt, but he maintains that certain factors were beyond his control. He emphasized that his body required time for recuperation and urged people to understand his situation.

Now, fully rejuvenated and motivated, he eagerly anticipates making a meaningful contribution to the team’s achievements. Throughout his recovery phase, Bumrah remained resilient, channeling his energy into enhancing his physical condition and facilitating a steady recovery.

“During periods when injuries take longer to heal, frustration can creep in. However, instead of succumbing to self-doubt about recovery, I focused on enhancing my skills and expediting my return to the field,” stated Jasprit Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah’s return couldn’t be better timed, considering the imminent Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup. These high-profile tournaments demand peak performance from players, and Bumrah’s presence is poised to significantly impact India’s prospects.

 

“I’ve engaged in numerous net sessions. Once my rehabilitation phase concluded, I even practiced with the Gujarat team. Hence, it’s not as though I’ve been restricted while bowling,” Jasprit Bumrah conveyed to Cricbuzz.

While his comeback might initially be in the T20 format, Jasprit Bumrah disclosed that he meticulously geared up for longer spells during his rehabilitation period. Additionally, the dynamic pacer revealed the number of overs he bowled. He also mentioned that he honed his skills with his state team Gujarat during his rehabilitation tenure.

“Throughout my rehabilitation, I wasn’t exclusively preparing for T20 matches; my focus was always on being prepared for World Cup-level competition… so I’ve been bowling 10, 12, and even 15 overs. Having bowled more overs, it becomes easier to adjust to fewer overs in matches. I’m not holding back; I feel physically fit and eagerly anticipate the upcoming games,” Jasprit Bumrah concluded.
