Manprit Juneja, Bumrah’s former Gujarat teammate, drew an interesting comparison between the pacer and tennis legend Roger Federer. Speaking about Bumrah’s attitude and mental strength, Juneja said that the ace seamer’s hunger to improve and resilience after every setback mirror Federer’s longevity and grace in tennis.

“Like I said, he is strong mentally. Whenever he is down, he always wants to come back stronger,” Manprit Juneja recalled. “That’s how he was when he started, and that’s how he is now.”

Drawing parallels with Federer’s career beyond 30, Juneja added, “For me, he is like what Roger Federer was to tennis after he turned 30. Federer showed he could win titles even at 36, and Bumrah has that same class and drive.”

At 32, Bumrah understands the physical demands of fast bowling better than anyone. With age and workload in mind, he has learned to balance rest and competition, focusing on quality performances over quantity.

“It’s not easy for a fast bowler to play all three formats at 32,” Manprit Juneja explained. “If you want to play long, you must be smart and understand your body. When someone like Bumrah does that, I don’t see the problem.”

Calling him “a polished and mature individual,” Manprit Juneja concluded that Bumrah’s commitment to the team’s success remains unwavering — a testament to why he’s one of India’s most respected cricketers.
