Jasprit Bumrah reminded everyone why he’s one of the deadliest pacers in the world with a stellar performance against Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 1. His hostile spell not only anchored Mumbai Indians’ emphatic 100-run victory but also catapulted them to the top of the points table.

The surface in Jaipur had something in it for the pacers—good bounce, sharp carry—and Bumrah made full use of those conditions. After Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult set the tone early, Bumrah took charge and showcased his trademark control and aggression. The India spearhead rattled Rajasthan’s middle order, removing key batters Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag with smart, short-pitched bowling. He finished with outstanding figures of 2/15 from his four overs—once again underlining his impact as a game-changer.

But what stood out even more than his performance was what followed after the match. In a heartwarming moment of camaraderie, Bumrah was seen passing on wisdom to Rajasthan Royals pacer Tushar Deshpande. The interaction, captured on camera, quickly went viral. Bumrah’s advice was all about mindset: “Be aggressive—not with every delivery, but in your thinking. Let the batter hit you, but believe that you’ll get him next ball.”

He elaborated, “Aggressive doesn’t mean bowling a wicket-taking delivery every time. It means saying to yourself, ‘Go ahead, hit me for a six—but let’s see how many you can hit. I’ll hit back even harder.’”

It’s the kind of guidance that can go a long way for a young bowler like Deshpande, who has struggled to find rhythm this season. With just a handful of wickets in eight matches, he’ll be eager to bounce back and make a mark in the remaining games.

Meanwhile, Bumrah’s return from injury has been nothing short of spectacular. After missing the initial matches of the season, he has come back strongly, picking up 11 wickets in seven games while maintaining an economy rate of under 7. His resurgence has been a massive boost for Mumbai Indians, and if he continues this form, MI’s title dreams could very well turn into reality.

Bumrah isn’t just leading with the ball—he’s also leading with heart and experience.
