According to the latest reports, the Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah’s surgery in England was not successful. Thus, it might put his availability for the upcoming 5-match Test series under the scanner. He had suffered a left thumb injury in the first T20I against Ireland. Subsequently, he had to miss the ODIs and T20Is against England. However, Jasprit has been included in the 18-man squad for the Test series against England.
In fact, Bumrah took to his social media platform that he is trying to make a comeback. One of the sources of Deccan Chronicle in BCCI said, “It is a displaced fracture on the left-hand thumb. From what I know, the operation wasn’t a great success. I guess technically he is out for 3-4 weeks but being a bowler and injury in his non-bowling hand, the team management might gamble if there is an emergency or they can make him play with the bandages.”
As Bumrah suffered an injury to his non-bowling hand, the source reckons that the team management can gamble with his place in the side. Thus, we might see Jasprit Bumrah in action for the second Test.

The source went on to add that Bumrah’s availability will depend on the Yo-Yo Test. Meanwhile, Bumrah had bowled with a lot of assurance in his maiden series against South Africa. Therefore, he is going to be crucial for the Indian team.
Deccan Chronicle’s source concluded, “In my opinion, fitness tests should be mandatory but the word Tests means a number of tests. There should be a series of tests conducted with test different parameters. Since all the players are flown specially to Bangalore for the test, I’m sure there is enough time to conduct multiple tests and assess the player completely and not only on endurance.”
India had dearly missed the services of Bumrah in the limited-overs leg of the series. Therefore, the tourists will hope that he regains full fitness before the second Test match at Lord’s.
