With the highly anticipated third ODI between India and England set to take place in Ahmedabad on February 12, International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah has announced a noble initiative—”Donate Organs, Save Lives.” This campaign leverages cricket’s massive reach to raise awareness about organ donation and inspire individuals to pledge their organs to help save lives.

In India, thousands of patients await life-saving transplants, but the lack of awareness and willingness to donate organs after death remains a major hurdle. The initiative, which will be highlighted at the Narendra Modi Stadium, aims to bridge this gap by educating the public on the profound impact of organ donation.

“On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative—’Donate Organs, Save Lives.’ Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all—the gift of life. One pledge, one decision, can save multiple lives. Let’s come together and make a difference,” Shah tweeted.

Meanwhile, on the field, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma roared back to form with a stunning century as India sealed the three-match series with a four-wicket win in the second ODI at Cuttack. Chasing a challenging 305-run target, Rohit played a masterclass knock of 119 off 90 balls, smashing 12 fours and seven sixes. His innings, supported by Shubman Gill (60) and Axar Patel (41), ensured that India cruised to victory with 33 balls to spare.

Earlier, England, opting to bat first, put up 304 runs, with Joe Root (69) and Ben Duckett (58) leading the charge. However, Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/35 triggered a collapse, causing England to lose seven wickets for just 85 runs.
While Virat Kohli, returning from injury, managed only five runs, India remained in control throughout the chase. With this win, India clinched another home series victory, continuing their dominant form ahead of major tournaments.
