West Indies pacer Jayden Seales and Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a fiery moment on Day 1 of the second and final Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The incident took place during India’s first innings on Friday (October 10), adding a bit of spice to an otherwise dominant day for the hosts.

Jaiswal, who has been in phenomenal form this series, showcased a flawless display of batting that kept India on top throughout the opening day. The 23-year-old left-hander notched up a brilliant century, blending aggression with control.

His partner, Sai Sudharsan, complemented him beautifully with a well-constructed half-century, while KL Rahul, the centurion from Ahmedabad’s first Test, couldn’t build on his promising start.

The tension between Jayden Seales and Yashasvi Jaiswal unfolded on the third ball of the 62nd over. Seales bowled a sharp delivery that narrowly missed Jaiswal’s outside edge. The young pacer followed it up with a cold, piercing stare—one that Jaiswal chose to ignore as he calmly prepared for the next ball. The incident reminded fans of classic India-West Indies duels from the past, where fiery pace met fearless batting.

Earlier in the day, India got off to a steady start as KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched together a 58-run opening stand. The breakthrough came courtesy of Jomel Warrican, who dismissed Rahul for 38 off 54 balls after a sharp stumping by Tevin Imlach. Warrican then struck again, breaking a 193-run partnership between Jaiswal and Sudharsan by trapping the latter LBW for 87.

At stumps, India were comfortably placed at 257/2 after 70 overs, with Jaiswal unbeaten on 127 and skipper Shubman Gill on 5. Warrican remained the lone bright spot for the visitors, taking both wickets, while Seales went wicketless despite bowling 13 tight overs.

With India already 1-0 up in the series, a win in Delhi would seal a 2-0 whitewash and give Gill his first home series win as captain. The West Indies, meanwhile, continue to chase their first Test win over India since 2002, a drought that has stretched for more than two decades.
