After the postponement of Ranji Trophy 2021-22, veteran Indian pace bowler Jaydev Unadkat expressed his desire to play red-ball cricket again. The left-arm fast bowler took to Twitter on Tuesday (Tuesday) and wrote: “Dear red ball, please give me one more chance.. I’ll make you proud, promise!” While he has been a regular face in the domestic circuit in recent years for India, his post went viral very quickly as well.

However, many fans also backed the pace bowler to fulfil his dream soon. But, many didn’t like it and a social media user took a dig at Unadkat by asking: “At what pace would you bowl, bro?” However, the pacer came up with an apt reply, asking the fan to check his numbers in First-Class cricket as well.

“At a pace which gets me wickets, even on the flat tracks at my home ground. If you want to see the numbers, keep a wider perspective and check all columns,” replied Jaydev Unadkat alongside an eye-winking emoji. While his reply did silence the fans, it also showed his confidence behind his abilities in red-ball cricket as well.

Earlier that day, Jaydev Unadkat took to his Twitter handle and posted a tweet in the hope that the Indian selectors would see it. He tweet, “Dear red ball, please give me one more chance.. I’ll make you proud, promise!”

Meanwhile, the BCCI has postponed the upcoming Ranji Trophy and a few other domestic events due to COVID-19 concerns. The 2020-21 edition of the tournament also couldn’t take place due to the same reason and due to that, Jaydev Unadkat didn’t take the field in a First-Class game for quite some time now.

Unadkat, who has played one Test, 7 ODIs and 10 T20Is so far, led Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. In the 2019-20 season of Ranji Trophy, he finished as the highest wicket-taker with 67 dismissals in his name. His heroics also took Saurashtra to the title win as well.
