Star Indian pacer and Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler Jaydev Unadkat has opened up about his team’s inconsistent run in IPL 2025, stressing that a cohesive bowling performance is key to winning games in the tournament. With Hyderabad’s playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Unadkat candidly admitted that the lack of coordination in the bowling unit has cost them crucial matches.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after SRH’s heavy defeat to Gujarat Titans, who piled up 224/6, Unadkat reflected on the disconnect within the bowling attack. “In the IPL, you need three or four bowlers to contribute in every game. This season, when two of us have done well, the rest haven’t supported in tandem,” he explained.

The left-arm pacer emphasised the importance of bowling partnerships, drawing parallels with batting dynamics. “It’s like batting partnerships—if pressure isn’t applied from both ends, it becomes very difficult to execute plans. That’s where we’ve faltered,” he said.

Despite taking three wickets in the final over, jaydev Unadkat acknowledged that individual brilliance can’t win matches if the overall bowling unit doesn’t function collectively. “When your bowling isn’t in sync, you fall behind quickly. We have to own up to the fact that we haven’t been the best bowling side this season,” he added.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had stormed into the IPL 2024 final with their aggressive style of play, started IPL 2025 on a high by scoring a record 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals. But the momentum has since faded. With just three wins from ten matches, SRH now sit second-last on the points table.

Their next match against Delhi Capitals on May 5 is a do-or-die clash. A loss there will officially end their playoff hopes for IPL 2025.
