Jaydev Unadkat Explains His Nickname Given By Ben Stokes

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler, Jaydev Unadkat is going through a golden patch in his life as he recently led Saurashtra to their maiden Ranji Trophy win. He was hoping to perform well at the IPL, which could’ve opened his chances for an international comeback. He revived his career when he finished with 24 wickets in the IPL 2017. He was also the second-highest wicket-taker in that tournament and it helped him make a national comeback.

This was also the first season for the English all-rounder, Ben Stokes. He was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for that season. He spent some time with Unadkat for Rising Pune Supergiant as the two became good friends. Later on, the duo went on to play for Rajasthan Royals for the next two seasons in 2018 and 2019. Recently, the news surfaced on the internet that Stokes has called Unadkat “Mango man”. The southpaw pacer also revealed the reason why Stokes called him.

During the Instagram live session with the Rajasthan Royals official page, Unadkat revealed that during an IPL season, he brought some fresh mangoes for Stokes. He also said that the all-rounder absolutely loved it. This is after which the English player started calling Unadkat ‘Mango man’ of the group.

Recalling the incident, Jaydev Unadkat said, “When I brought mangoes for him, he was the happiest and called me Mango Man of the group.”

The Saurashtra skipper then praised the Sokes and aid that Stokes doesn’t like getting out. He also said that Stokes is a great guy and a champion player.

Talking about the quarantine time, Unadkat revealed that he raring to get back on the field but the situation doesn’t permit that. He said its important everyone fights this together. He said, “I am dying to be on the field. But I can’t complain. We have to be in this fight together.”
