It seems as if Jaydev Unadkat is living a dream. From playing a mere two matches in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League to being the second-highest wicket-taker in this season, a lot has changed for the 25-year old left-arm pacer.

Continuing on his good form, he picked two wickets in the powerplay of the final tonight. If dismissing the in-form Parthiv Patel wasn’t enough, he followed it with the wicket of Lendl Simmons.

If he picks three more wickets tonight, he will take the Purple Cap from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has picked 26 wickets in this season of the IPL. Another Man of the Match award for Unadkat will make him the joint-highest (3) with Ben Stokes.

It is not just Unadkat’s bowling which his doing the damage. His fielding is complementing his bowling. A perfect exemplary of which was Simmons’ wicket. Unadkat deceived him with a cutter and then dived full length off his own bowling to grab the catch.
