Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni is arguably one of the most celebrated captains in international cricket. His achievements as a captain are not only remarkable but they are also unmatched as he is the only skipper to win all three ICC events – T20 World Cup, a 50-over World cup and the Champions Trophy. Apart from this, almost every player who has played under him boasts about Dhoni’s calming influence on a team and its players and recently young India cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues revealed her admiration as well. 

Jemimah is one of the key members of the Indian women’s team and made a name for herself with some consistent performances. Apart from this, she is also quite active on social media. In a recent Instagram live session with the cricket presenter Ridhima Pathak, she was asked if she could play under a male captain, who would that be.

Rodrigues chose MS Dhoni as the male captain she has fantasized to play under. She revealed that she has grown up watching him and his achievements as a leader are the reason that she wants to play in his team.

Jemimah explained, “None other than MS Dhoni. You have grown up watching him and what he did in the World Cups, winning those two World Cups. We have heard so much in interviews and so many people say that they have never seen a captain like MS Dhoni. So, it’s always like a fantasy that one day I’ll get to play under him, but I don’t know if that’s possible.”

Rodrigues made her international debut in 2018 and since then she has been a regular part of the national squad. In her career of 18 ODIs, she has scored 372 runs with three fifties. In 44 T20Is, she has scored 930 runs at an average of 26.57 and a strike-rate of 111.24.
