On Friday evening Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) shared a video of their assistant coach Abhishek Nayar having a chat with his former Mumbai teammate Rohit Sharma at the Eden Gardens. However, the video went viral in no time after fans started to transcribe what they were discussing. While the video was later deleted from KKR’s social media handle where Rohit can be heard disappointed after being removed from the captaincy by the Mumbai franchise, fans started reacting to it.
In the video, Rohit and Nayar discussed about ‘things changing’. At the end of the video, Rohit Sharma also said that “it’s his last”. Though the context of the conversation isn’t known, fans suggested that they could’ve talked about the current situation at Mumbai Indians, especially Hardik Pandya’s appointment as captain as well.
“Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai…Woh unke upar hai…Jo bhi hai woh mera ghar hai bhai, woh temple jo hai na maine banwaya hai(Everything is changing one by one… It’s on them… Whatever, but it’s my home brother, it’s the temple that I constructed).”
The last line that could be heard in the video was: “Bhai mera kya mera to ye last hai (brother, this is my last anyway)”.

However, a few days ago, a report made headlines that suggested multiple senior players in the Mumbai Indians team aren’t happy with Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. Notably, the Mumbai Indians management announced Hardik Pandya as the franchise’s captain before the start of the new season, hoping the India all-rounder would lead them to success just the way he did with the Gujarat Titans over the last couple of seasons as well.
Moreover, Mumbai Indians became the first team to be knocked out of the playoffs race in IPL 2024, and they are placed 9th in the 10-team points table now. With just 4 wins from 12 matches so far, MI have barely managed to do well as a unit, with Hardik’s decision-making as a captain also being questioned multiple times by not only fans but also experts.
