India’s top-order batters have tightened the race for the No.1 position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Batter Rankings after delivering impressive performances during the recently concluded three-match ODI series against England. While India lost the series 2-1, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma all made significant gains, putting pressure on current world No.1 Daryl Mitchell.

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell continues to lead the rankings with 802 rating points, but his advantage has been reduced considerably. Shubman Gill remains in second place with 801 points after finishing as India’s highest run-scorer in the England series. The stylish opener accumulated 188 runs across three matches and now trails Mitchell by just one rating point.

Virat Kohli retained the third spot with 767 rating points following another productive series. After a slow start, the former India captain responded with consecutive half-centuries, while Rohit Sharma also maintained his place in fourth with 758 points after making valuable contributions throughout the tour.

With all three Indian stars in excellent form, the battle for the top ranking promises to intensify in the coming months. England’s Joe Root was one of the biggest gainers in the latest rankings after a sensational ODI series against India.

The experienced batter scored an unbeaten 249 runs, helping England clinch the series and climb four places to eighth in the ICC ODI Batter Rankings. Ben Duckett also made notable progress, jumping 11 places to joint 19th, while teammate Jacob Bethell rose five spots to 64th.

In the ODI bowling rankings, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan retained his position as the world’s No.1 bowler. England speedster Jofra Archer climbed to third after picking up five wickets against India, moving closer to second-placed Abrar Ahmed.

The latest ICC T20I Rankings also featured several changes following Bangladesh’s series victory over Zimbabwe. Brian Bennett reached a career-best ninth position among T20I batters, while Bangladesh’s Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan climbed to 20th and 27th, respectively. Among bowlers, Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain improved their rankings, while Zimbabwe pacer Richard Ngarava registered one of the biggest jumps, rising 37 places to 32nd after an impressive series.
