The English team management has already named the 12-man squad for the second Test match against India at the iconic Lord’s as Jamie Porter again missed the chance to find a spot in the team. Even the young Ollie Pope geared up to make his debut at number 4 in the line-up in place of Dawid Malan. But the hosts faced a major blow as their skipper Joe Root faced an injury scare during a net session on the eve of the Test match.
The reports of Cricbuzz said that Root was hit on the right hand while facing Chris Woakes in the nets and has walked off since then. However, he seems to be absolutely fine and there is nothing to worry about for the fans.

However, there has been a lot of buzz regarding the pitch conditions for the important encounter as it will recall the memories of what happened four years ago. A green top worked wonders for the visitors despite the fact that they batted first. Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma were the heroes for Team India and they will possess threat once again at the Home of Cricket to the home side.
According to Cricbuzz, the ball delivered by Woakes lifted off the length and hit Root on the right hand. Physio was quick to attend him and though he batted for a few balls, the skipper soon left the field. It doesn’t seem to be a major injury but it could have been worse with less than 24 hours to go for the second Test to begin.
The skipper bats at number 3 for England and he began the series with a brilliant knock of 80 runs in the series opener at Edgbaston. His form will be crucial for England as their top order isn’t providing the needed results. His footwork also looked confident against the lone spinner Ravi Ashwin. It also remains to be seen if the hosts will go with an extra spinner as Moeen Ali or they decide to go in with the four-man pace attack with Chris Woakes who has recovered from his knee injury.
