Joe Root Rues Any Bad Blood Between Two Teams After Hostile Day Five At Lord’s

England skipper Joe Root turned down any bad blood against India despite tempers flared up during day five of the Lord’s Test. Players from both teams exchanged words quite a few times in a changed-up atmosphere in London.

Things started to boil at the fag end of day five at Lord’s when Jasprit Bumrah bowled few nasty bouncers to James Anderson, one hit on the helmet to rattle him. England players tried giving it back to Bumrah on day five and said few words as well other than bowling some bumpers.

Bumrah kept his head calm and batted well along with Mohammed Shami and guided India to safe shores with an unbeaten 89-run stand for the ninth wicket.

Root mentioned there is no bad blood between two teams despite constant hostility on day five.

“Virat’s got his style and his way of doing things that’s probably contrasting naturally to the way I play my cricket. Fair play to Virat and his team, they’ve jumped on something emotional that’s given them an edge and something to cling on to tactically,” Root told reporters after their loss at Lords’.

“India as a side grabbed onto something and used that to their advantage on this occasion. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think there is any nastiness or hatred there between anyone out there on the field.”

Team India was under pressure coming into the fifth day being 181/6 with Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma in the middle. Both of them fell in quick succession before Shami and Bumrah turned the heat back on England, who were to eighter get 272 runs or survive 60 overs.

Indian pacers were fired-up when they came out to bowl in the fourth innings. Mohammed Siraj dismissed four England batsmen while Bumrah managed three wickets. Shami and Ishant got one and two wickets respectively as India won the Test by 151 runs and script a remarkable turnaround.
