England and Yorkshire player Jonny Bairstow hopes to play in the upcoming summer that allows across formats to be possible despite the novel coronavirus pandemic across the globe. The virus has witnessed all the sporting events into a standstill. Like other cricket board, ECB has also stopped their action and said that no professional cricket will be played until May 28 and they are currently forming contingency plans so that the season can start later in the summer.

England have a handful of series upcoming which included the T20 Blast and the inaugural season of The Hundred along with Internationals, the County Championship and the One-Day Cup as well which are likely to be postponed. But Bairstow, who was all set for the summer, wants to play all the four domestic formats alongside the upcoming Indian Premier League.

“We hope it isn’t cancelled,” Bairstow told Sky Sports regarding the new season. “We hope that we are playing all formats. As much as the scheduling can help no-one wants to see a competition go. That will be up to the ECB. I am sure they’ll have everything in place to make the correct decision for the health of the sport.”

On the other hand, the Indian Premier League has postponed until April 15 which was earlier decided to take place from March 31 and now due to the day nationwide lockdown, the league taking place looks impossible.

“We won’t learn too much about what is going to happen with the IPL until after that (the lockdown),” stated the 30-year-old.

“There will probably be a quarantine period. There was talk of only playing one round of games. If they are going to do that is that going to be in one city or two cities? Who knows. You’ve got to hope at some stage we will be playing, whether that be IPL or the county season this summer,” Jonny Bairstow stated.
