There are not many cricketers in this world who are known more for their fielding than for their batting or bowling. South Africa’s Jonty Rhodes is one of them, perhaps, the top on that list.

A regular for South Africa in the point region, Rhodes is often credited for setting high standard in fielding in not just South Africa, but, across the places where the sport is played.

Rhodes affected 139 dismissals during his 11-year long career. Not that fielding was the only thing he did. In 52 Test matches, he scored 2,532 runs at an average of 35.66. In ODIs, he was often useful for the Proteas down the order. In 245 appearances, he scored 5,935 runs at an average of 35.11 and a strike rate of 80.90.
