England’s limited-overs stalwart Jos Buttler has heaped glowing praise on Indian batting maestro Rohit Sharma, singling him out as one of the most impressive figures in international cricket in recent years. In a recent conversation with Kookaburra Cricket India, Buttler shared his admiration for Rohit, not just as a top-order batter but also as a leader who has brought remarkable success to Indian cricket.

Asked to name the Indian player who has left the most significant impression on him lately, Buttler was quick to pick Rohit Sharma. He lauded the India ODI skipper for the calm and strategic way he has handled leadership duties, especially under high-pressure scenarios.
“Rohit’s leadership and composure on the field are just incredible,” Jos Buttler noted. “What he has achieved in a short time as a leader is truly inspiring.”

Both Buttler and Rohit are currently in the thick of IPL 2025 action. Buttler is turning out for the Gujarat Titans and is in blistering form, having scored 533 runs in 12 innings. Rohit, representing Mumbai Indians, has also looked solid this season with 305 runs in as many games.

Interestingly, both GT and MI have booked their places in the Playoffs, setting the stage for a potential showdown. Mumbai Indians, under the stewardship of Hardik Pandya this season, are eyeing a record-breaking sixth IPL title, which would push them past Chennai Super Kings as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, continue to impress. This marks their third Playoffs appearance in four seasons—a stunning achievement for such a young franchise. After a dip in form last year, Shubman Gill’s men have bounced back with purpose and consistency, looking like serious title contenders once again. As the Playoffs approach, all eyes will be on how these two powerhouses perform when it matters most.
