England cricketer Jos Buttler feels great after securing a remarkable victory in the fifth and final ODI of the five-match ODI series at Old Trafford on Sunday where he played a heroic match-winning knock of unbeaten 110-run.

Chasing down a low target of 206-run, England suffered a major batting collapse and went down to 114/8. From the verge of defeat, in-form Jos Buttler dramatically rescued the team with the important helps from the lower-order batsmen as they completed the whitewash after beating Australia in that game by one-wicket with 9 balls to spare.

Buttler was elating after snatching that stunning victory. After the game, the 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman said about the game, “It’s obviously a great feeling, hitting the winning runs… it’s pure elation, isn’t it? You know it’s one shot, but that’s probably when you become most flustered when it’s in touching distance.

“You’ll probably never match that… one (wicket left) and plucking it from nowhere when we didn’t really have the right to win the game.

“Winning games when you didn’t deserve to, they’re almost the more enjoyable ones.”

Buttler also lauded the lower-order batsmen Adil Rashid (20 off 47 balls) and Jake Ball (1* off 10 balls), whose support helped him to secure a thrilling victory as well as the historic whitewash.

The match and series hero credited them by quoting, “Great credit to him (Adil Rashid) to come out and face the balls. He did it beautifully (against Ashton Agar), fighting a few instincts, I think – he wanted to run down and try and smack it. But it’s a tough thing to do, soak up that pressure and deal with that – and a huge feather in his cap to know he’s come through.”

On the other hand, skipper Eoin Morgan applauded Buttler for showcasing other extraordinary innings to securing a thrilling victory.

While Morgan believes that Buttler is possibly the only man in the team to save England from that dead-end situation, he further added, “To produce an innings like he did… he managed to get us over the line somehow, and when he plays like that he creates a lot of belief in the changing room that rubs off. It’s outstanding.”
