A high-octane clash unfolded at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the Gujarat Titans hosted the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 fixture. After winning the toss, GT skipper Shubman Gill opted to bowl first, and Delhi responded with a commanding total of 203 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to a solid batting effort led by Ashutosh Sharma and Karun Nair.

The Capitals looked confident with the ball early on, especially after a sharp run-out by Nair sent Gill back for just 7 runs, followed by a fiery start from Mitchell Starc. Chasing a challenging 204-run target, Gujarat Titans found early trouble when Sai Sudharsan, who looked fluent, was dismissed after scoring a handy 36.
But the game quickly turned on its head when Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford joined forces at the crease. The pair dismantled DC’s bowling attack, with Buttler in particular going into overdrive.

The defining moment came in the 15th over, bowled by Mitchell Starc. Buttler, who was already in full flow, tore into the Aussie pacer, smashing four consecutive boundaries. On the fifth ball, he mistimed a pull shot that flew towards Vipraj Nigam at backward square leg. In what could have been a game-turning catch, Nigam couldn’t hold on as the ball slipped through and trickled to the boundary.

Buttler, despite showing signs of cramp late in the innings, stayed resilient and steered his team home with just four balls to spare. Unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved century, he remained unbeaten on 97 off just 52 balls, anchoring GT’s thrilling run chase and sealing an important win for his side.
