In a thrilling moment during the IPL 2025 clash at Wankhede Stadium on May 6, Gujarat Titans’ wicketkeeper Jos Buttler produced a stunning piece of fielding brilliance to run out Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Corbin Bosch. The South African cricketer, who was playing a valuable late-innings cameo, was dismissed for 27 off 22 balls in the final over, just when MI hoped for a late flourish.

Bosch began the 20th over with back-to-back sixes off Prasidh Krishna, showing great intent to push MI past the 160 mark. However, a fiery bouncer off the third delivery struck him flush on the helmet, prompting an immediate concussion check by the medical team. After being cleared to continue, Bosch looked to go big once more but mistimed his stroke.

With urgency building, he called for a second run to retain strike. The throw from Rashid Khan wasn’t the best—it forced Buttler to step away from his position behind the stumps to collect it.

With his back to the stumps and Bosch diving in, Buttler displayed incredible presence of mind. Rather than turning and running to the stumps, the England keeper flicked the ball back onto the stumps with his gloves in one fluid motion. The direct-hit caught Bosch inches short of his crease, leaving Mumbai at 150/8 with two balls to go.

The moment was reminiscent of MS Dhoni’s iconic no-look run out of Ross Taylor in 2017, and Buttler’s awareness drew similar praise. It was a rare instance of a foreign wicketkeeper pulling off a move so often associated with Dhoni’s class and calmness.

Earlier, GT’s bowling attack, led by Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan, had set the tone by striking early. Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore then maintained the pressure in the middle overs, combining for a tight spell that gave up just 55 runs in eight overs.

Chasing 151, GT sent Jos Buttler at No.3 after Sai Sudharsan fell early to Trent Boult. The Titans now require 150 runs from 112 deliveries to break Mumbai Indians’ six-match winning streak.
