Pakistan team is currently in the state of crisis in the ongoing Asia Cup as their bowlers’ performances have come under the scanner. More than anyone, the form of Mohammad Amir is a worrying concern for them who hasn’t picked even a single wicket in the last six ODIs and the fiery pacer Junaid Khan has replaced him in the must-win game against Bangladesh. Junaid acknowledged the fact that the bond he shares with teammate Amir was misinterpreted earlier as jealousy.
During an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Khan said, “It can’t be called jealousy, we both compete against each other. Sometimes, we look at whose day it is. If Amir is having a good day, then I look to maintain rather than attack the batsman. If I am getting a few wickets, then Amir tries to maintain and not attack too much. If both of us are doing well, then we try to get wickets from both ends.”

Many are puzzled over Pakistan team management benching Junaid despite being in the squad. Junaid has scalped as many as 100 wickets in 69 ODIs as compared to Amir’s 58 wickets in 46 matches, reveals how the duo hunt in pairs during matches. However, one has to admit that ever since Amir has come back to the side, Khan’s appearances for his country have been far and few.
Describing the same, Junaid said, “When there is a balance between the bowling pair, it benefits the team and the individual as well. If Amir bowls well and gets a wicket, I also look to do the same. Nowadays, Amir and I share our bowling strategies during the match with each other and that is helping us improve our performance.”
According to the southpaw pacer, a bowler has more chances while owling with the new ball. He said Amir and he gets more wickets with the new ball as the batsmen look to bat it out,
