With the LSG’s IPL campaign coming to an end, Rishabh Pant, India’s newly appointed Test vice-captain, has said that he wants to “switch off” from cricket for a few days before preparing for the upcoming Test tour of England. However, Pant finished the tournament on a high note, smashing 118 off 61 balls to lift LSG to 227 for three against RCB. However, RCB chased it down comfortably.

“Just want to switch off for a few days, not think about cricket and then the England series is coming up-just preparing for that in a good frame of mind,” Rishabh Pant said at the presentation ceremony.
While talking about LSG’s season, Pant opined on the injury setbacks as a key factor in the team’s struggles as well.

“You’ve got to play 40 overs of good cricket. Twenty overs will definitely not save you in a T20 game, and that’s been our story. There were a lot of injury concerns before the tournament-that’s something that hurt us throughout the season,” he also said.

However, LSG missed their left-arm seamer Mohsin Khan for the entire season, while young pace bowler Mayank Yadav, who left a mark early on, spent most of the campaign on the sidelines with back issues as well. Despite a poor season, Pant’s final knock was stunning as he smashed 11 fours and 8 sixes in his century knock.
“I was feeling better with each match, but sometimes it just doesn’t come off. Today I wanted to make it count. Like the experienced players do-when you get a start, make it big. I was trying to read the field, predict how they’d bowl, and kept things simple. Played every ball with the same intensity throughout the innings,” Rishabh Pant concluded.
