Kagiso Rabada Enters The Record Books After The Qualifier 2

The fiery Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer, Kagiso Rabada continued his phenomenal run with the ball in IPL 2020, which allowed his team to get past early jitters during the second Qualifier against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and seal maiden Indian Premier League final berth on Sunday.

Rabada surpassed the likes of Lasith Malinga and James Faulkner to become the bowler with 2nd most wickets in an IPL season as he returned with excellent figures of 4 for 29. DC managed to seal their spot in the IPL 2020 final on November 10, owing to the all-round performance from Marcus Stoinis and a swashbuckling half-century from Shikhar Dhawan to book a clash with Mumbai Indians in the final on November 10.

Needing 190 to win the game, DC restricted SRH to 172 for 8 in 20 overs with Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada starring with the ball in their first win over the David Warner-led 2016 champions this season. Here are all the major statistics from the Abu Dhabi clash between DC and SRH:

29: Kagiso Rabada scalped as many as 29 wickets in IPL 2020 and is just 3 shy of Dwayne Bravo’s (32) record of most wickets in an IPL season. Jasprit Bumrah is also in contention for the unique feat, having picked 27 wickets in IPL 2020. 

30-plus runs & 3+ wickets: DC all-rounder Marcus Stoinis became only the fifth cricketer in IPL to register a double of 30-plus runs and then 3-plus wickets in an IPL playoff. Shane Watson (52 & 3/10 in 2008), Yusuf Pathan (56 & 3/22 in 2008), Kieron Pollard (33*& 3/17 in 2010), and Rashid Khan (34*& 3/19 in 2018) are the four other all-rounders to achieve this feat.

20: SRH all-rounder Rashid Khan became only the fourth bowler to take more than 20 wickets at an economy of below 5. Anil Kumble (21 wickets @5.86 in 2009), Sunil Narine (24 wickets @5.48 in 2012; 22 wickets @5.47 in 2013))and Lasith Malinga (28 wickets @5.95 in 2011) have achieved this unique feat before Rashid.

600: With his sixth half-century or more score of the season, Shikhar Dhawan crossed 600 runs in a season for the first time in his career. Dhawan smashed 78 off 50 balls before being dismissed LBW by Sandeep Sharma. Earlier in the campaign, he had hit consecutive centuries his first two in the tournament history.

DC: Kagiso Rabada became the most successful DC bowler in a season with 29 wickets, getting better of his previous year haul of 25 wickets. Last year, He had scalped 25 wickets in 12 games and matched fellow South African pacer Morne Morkel’s tally of 25 wickets in 2012 for now-defunct Delhi Daredevils.
